This video covers how to properly adjust the cam chain tensioner system, as well as set the valve clearances on your CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 family of motorcycles. Cam Chain and valve adjustments are the second and third steps in the regular tune-up procedure that happens every 1,500 miles (2,400 km). In addition to the cam chain and valve adjustment, the oil also needs to be changed, as well as setting the ignition timing. When doing these adjustments its important to follow the order of:
- Oil Change (and filter cleanout every other oil change)
- Cam Chain Adjustment
- Valve Adjustment
- Ignition Timing
Each adjustment has a domino effect on the following so performing your adjustments in the proper order is the only way to have a properly tuned engine.
Tools and parts you might need when making the adjustments:
- CB175/CB200 Valve Adjustment Wrench
- CB175/CB200 Valve Adjuster Screw and Nut
- Feeler Gauges
- CB200 Spark Plugs
- CB175 Spark Plugs
- 18mm Spark Plug Socket
- Anti-seize
