This is a general overview of how the turn signals set up is set up on the vintage Honda motorcycles. When converting from standard incandescent bulbs to LED bulbs in the turn signals, gauges and tail light there are a few things to understand. The upgrade is popular since it draws less current than incandescent bulbs, but does require a new flasher with a low threshold to trigger the turn signals. Also the wiring for the single bulb flasher in the gauge cluster is odd. The bulb draws current from the opposite side bulbs that are not blinking when the flasher is activated. Since incandescent bulbs can have current run through them from either direction they will light up. LED, which stands for Light Emitting Diode, are specific in which the direction the current runs through the circuit. That is what a diode is, a one way door and will only let the current flow one direction through the bulb. This signal bulb must be slightly re-wired and have an additional diode installed to properly flash when either signal is activated. The video below shows this all in action and how to set it up on your bike.
