360T rebuild - where to start?

I'm new to the motorcycle world. I've recently inherited my wife's grandfather's CB 360T. Looks decent enough but not sure when it last ran and my mother-in-law believes it may have had a transmission problem. Any advice on where to begin? Or do I just lay into it and start breaking the bike down?
